Launch of a New Degree Program in Software Engineering and Enterprise Initiative

The Department of Industrial Management, Faculty of Science, University of Kelaniya marked another important milestone in its history of almost fifty years by launching a new degree program for Software Engineering. This is an additional annual intake commencing from this year in 2015 to the 50 students annually admitted to the department’s much acclaimed degree program B.Sc. in Management and Information Technology (MIT). A special event, “Lead, Innovate & Inspire”, was held at The Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo with the patronage of Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Hon. Minister of Higher Education and Research as the Chief  Guest and Mr. Nobuhito Hobo, Japanese Ambassador to Sri Lanka, on Monday, 27th of April, 2015 as the Guest of Honor to commemorate the launch of the new degree program as well as the launch of the Enterprise Initiative with formation of a business incubation center for young entrepreneurs coupled with a Teaching Company Scheme promoting student centered-education. The special invitees were Mr. Piyasena Ranepura, Secretory to the Ministry of Higher Education, Prof. P.S.M. Gunaratne, Vice Chairman of the University Grants Commission, Vice Chancellor, Deans of the Faculties, top executives of leading business and other organizations. The event was organized by the Head of the Department of Industrial Management, staff and students.
