Advanced Planning and Scheduling

On completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Examine the use to advanced algorithms for operations planning and control.
  • Demonstrate the use to advanced algorithms for operations planning and control.

Forecasting models, Adaptive forecasting, Winters model, Box-Jenkin models, Applications of Dynamic programming in production planning, Optimisation in capacity planning and scheduling, finite scheduling, dynamic line balancing algorithms, manpower scheduling, algorithms for project activity scheduling, simulation models, Travelling salesman algorithm, optimisation of flow networks, Queuing networks, Markov models.
The course will be delivered in a combination of lectures and assignments.
End-of-semester examination (80% marks) and continuous evaluation (20% marks).
