On completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  • Demonstrate understanding of the process and role of procurement management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of purchase administration procedures.
  • Evaluate procurement related functional strategies for effectiveness.

The process of purchasing, organisation, make, lease or buy concepts, cost of ownership, purchase administration procedures, planning, specification, contract types and administration, solicitation, agreement, value analysis, supplier selection and evaluation, managing supplier relationship, Negotiation strategies and techniques, material handling, storing and inventory management, disposal and other related functions.
Lectures, interactive classroom sessions and case analysis.
End-of- Semester examination and case study presentations.
